Police charge man with high-range PCA at Young

A man has been charged after he was allegedly detected driving while more than four times the legal limit in the state's south yesterday.

About 9.10pm (Sunday 4 December 2022), officers from The Hume Police District were conducting patrols of Young, when they stopped a blue Hyundai Getz for a random breath test.

The driver – a 22-year-old man – underwent a breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Young Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis that returned a reading of 0.214.

The Tasmanian man was charged with high-range PCA and is due to appear before Young Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 6 December 2022).

His licence was also suspended.

Inquiries are continuing.
