A man will face court today charged with multiple offences in the state's northern tablelands.
About 4pm yesterday (Monday 16 September 2024), a man attended a home on Clive Street, Tenterfield, to speak to a man known to him and allegedly made threats with a flick knife before forcing entry into the home.
The occupant fled the home over the back fence.
A short time later, the man left the home on foot and was sighted by members of the public allegedly waving the flick knife around.
About 6pm the same day, police were called following reports a grey Volkswagon was driving erratically on Duncan Street, before mounting a curb and crashing.
Checks revealed the car was allegedly stolen from a home in Byron Bay on Saturday 14 September 2024.
Following inquiries, about 6.15pm police were patrolling Molesworth Street, Tenterfield, when they located and arrested a 30-year-old man in a carpark.
The man allegedly resisted arrest and made threats to police before he was taken to Tenterfield Police Station and charged with;
- Aggravated enter dwelling with intent – armed
- Carry knife visible in public place-cause fear
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm (two counts), and
- Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension.
The man was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court today (Tuesday 17 September 2024).
