Police Charge Man With Over Assault - Vaucluse

A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted and intimidated another man in Vaucluse today.

About 10.45am (Tuesday 18 February 2025), police were called to Old South Head Road, Vaucluse, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command arrived and were told an adult man had allegedly been assaulted by an older male. The assault allegedly occurred while the younger man was attempting to remove stickers posted by the older man.

During the incident, police were told that the older man allegedly made antisemitic comments before leaving the scene on a bus.

Police immediately commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 62-year-old man after stopping a bus at the intersection of New South Head Road and Strickland Street.

During the arrest police allegedly located a pair of wire cutters in the 62-year-old man's possession.

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasion actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and affix placard or paper on premise without consent.

The man was refused bail to appear before Waverley Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 19 February 2025).
