Police Charge Man With Pickpocketing Offences In Sydney

In March 2025, officers attached to North Central and North West Police Transport Command – Proactive Crime Team, commenced investigations into a series of 'pickpocket' style offences.

Police were investigating reported thefts throughout the Sydney rail network between Burwood, Town Hall and Strathfield Railway Stations.

Following inquiries and with the assistance of the Australian Federal Police, about 2pm yesterday (Thursday 20 March 2025), police intercepted and arrested a 41-year-old man at Sydney International Airport.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with three counts of steal from the person value less than or equal to $2000.

He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Friday 21 March 2025).
