Police charge man with stupefying a teenager

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 44-year-old man as a result of their investigation into an incident in Thornlie which resulted in a 13-year-old girl being indecently assaulted.

It will be alleged on Sunday, 27 September 2020 the man struck up a conversation with the girl at a shopping centre in Thornlie. A short time later they went to another location where it is further alleged the man gave the girl a substance before indecently dealing with her.

Police attended the location and found the victim unconscious and she was conveyed to Perth Children's Hospital.

Yesterday, Thursday 1 October 2020, Child Abuse Squad detectives located and charged the 44-year-old man from Thornlie with:-

• Two counts of Procured a Child of or over 13 years and under 16 years to Engage in Sexual Behaviour;

• Two counts of Indecently Deals with a Child over 13 years and under 16 years;

• One count of Stupefy with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence; and

• One count of Supply a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis).

He is due to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court today, 2 October 2020.
