Police Charge Pair After Found With Firearms At MCG

Police have charged two men following a firearms incident last night.

Officers were called by security at the MCG to assist with two males refusing to leave the venue due to their behaviour about 8.30pm.

As a consequence, police arrested two males and during a search it is alleged that each man was in possession of a firearm.

No one was injured during the incident.

The 27-year-old Broadmeadows man has been charged with:

• Possess unregistered handgun

• Possess ammunition without licence

• Alter serial number of a firearm

• Possess loaded firearm

• Possess prohibited item (Major Event Act offence)

• Fail to appear on bail.

The 21-year-old Roxburgh Park man has been charged with:

• Prohibited person possess firearm

• Possess ammunition without licence

• Commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The duo were remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
