Police charge seven after operation at Colo - Strike Force Guard

Seven people have been charged and will appear in court today as a police operation at a property in Colo continues.

The NSW Police Force established Strike Force Guard in March this year to prevent, investigate and disrupt unauthorised protests across the state.

About 8.30am yesterday (Sunday 19 June 2022), police were conducting planned investigations at a property on Putty Road, Colo, when they were approached by a group of people.

Police will allege in court the officers were surrounded by a group of people and the tyres of an unmarked police vehicle were damaged, rendering it undriveable.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command responded to the incident as well as neighbouring commands and specialist resources including PolAir, the Dog Unit, the Public Order and Riot Squad, Police Rescue, Raptor Squad and Operations Support Group.

Seven people were arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station.

A 24-year-old man from Putty has been charged with six offences including,

  • Affray
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
  • Destroy or damage property
  • Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, and
  • Aid commission of crimes.

A 27-year-old man from Katoomba has been charged with five offences including,

  • Affray
  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
  • Destroy or damage property, and
  • Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, and
  • Aid commission of crimes.

A 22-year-old woman from Doctor George Mountain near Bega, has been charged with four offences including,

  • Affray
  • Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm
  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty, and
  • Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty.

A 21-year-old woman, from South Brisbane, has been charged with four offences including,

  • Affray
  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
  • Destroy or damage property in company, and
  • Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty.

A 27-year-old man, from Melbourne, has been charged with three offences including,

  • Intimidate police officer in execution of duty
  • Wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty, and
  • Aid commission of crimes.

A 20-year-old man from Northcote, Victoria, has been charged with wilfully obstruct officer in execution of duty.

A 35-year-old man from Hurlstone Park, has been charged with aid the commission of crimes.

All seven people have been refused bail and will appear in Penrith Local Court today (Monday 20 June 2022).
