Seven teens have been charged following pursuits alleged to have occurred in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley yesterday.
About 2.30am on Monday 26 February 2024, police attempted to stop a Hyundai Santa Fe and a BMW X1 on Minmi Road, Cameron Park.
When the two vehicles - believed to have been stolen - allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated continuing towards Edgeworth.
At Main Road, Edgeworth, the Hyundai was abandoned, and the occupants entered the BMW.
Police will allege that the BMW was then used to ram a police vehicle before fleeing the scene towards Cardiff.
No injuries were reported by police, and a short time later, the pursuit was terminated.
About 8.20am, the vehicle was sighted by police on the Golden Highway at Mt Thorley and a pursuit was reengaged.
Road spikes were deployed a short time later and the vehicle came to a stop at Sandy Hollow where seven teens were arrested.
The teens - aged between 13 and 16 - were taken to Muswellbrook Police Station.
A 13-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance and breach of bail.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception, police pursuit - drive dangerously, drive conveyance without consent of owner, and breach of bail.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance and goods in custody.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance.
All four were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Tuesday 27 February 2024).
A 16-year-old boy was charged with dishonestly obtain property by deception and be carried in conveyance.
A 16-year-old girl was charged with be carried in conveyance.
Both were granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Wednesday 27 March 2024.
A 15-year-old girl was dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
