A teenager has been charged following two alleged aggravated break and enters in the state's north.
About 11.30pm on Friday 5 August 2022, a 65-year-old woman was asleep in a unit on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Coraki, when she was awoken by noise coming from the garage area attached to the building.
The woman approached the garage and called out when she heard a number of voices. She activated an alarm system a short time later when a number of people in the garage attempted to open an adjacent door.
A 51-year-old man in a unit nearby opened his door to inquire, when an unknown male armed with a crowbar approached and threatened him.
Four males were seen running from the area a short time later. No one was injured during the incident.
Officers from Richmond Police District attended and commenced investigations into the incident.
About 10pm on Monday 8 August 2022, a 61-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were in their home on Greenfell Street, Coraki.
The woman went to a bathroom in the home when she noticed a number of items missing, before she went to inquire in the bedroom where she saw further items missing.
On further inquiry, the pair noticed their front door was open and had been broken.
Officers from Richmond Police Area Command were called and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.
Following extensive inquiries, about 11.35am today (Wednesday 17 August 2022), a 15-year-old boy was arrested at a premises on Geneva Street, Kyogle, and taken to Kyogle Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent - knowing person there, and break and enter house etc steal value
The boy was refused bail and appeared at a children's court today when he was granted conditional bail, to reappear at a children's court on 21 September 2022.
