Police charge teen after climbing roof after crash - St Ives

An 18-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences and will face Court after allegedly climbing onto the roof of a house in Sydney's north to evade arrest yesterday.

About 2.20pm (Friday 11 June 2021), Highway Patrol officers directed the driver of a BMW hatchback to stop for the purposes of random drug and alcohol testing on Mona Vale Road, St Ives.

The driver continued at low speed to Memorial Avenue, St Ives, where the driver lost control and hit two parked cars.

He was allegedly involved in a third collision, before running from the vehicle and climbing onto the roof of a house in Kanoona Avenue, St Ives. He was arrested a short time later and taken to Hornsby Police Station.

During a search of the teen's car, officers allegedly found a quantity of drugs including cannabis and methylamphetamine, which have been seized.

The teen was charged with seven offences, including supply prohibited drug, not obey direction of police, resist officer in execution of duty, negligent driving, not keep left, not give particulars to other driver.

He has been granted conditional bail and will appear before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday 16 June 2021.
