Police have charged a 17-year-old boy after he was allegedly driving erratically, narrowly missing pedestrians and collided with four cars in Broadmeadows this afternoon.
It is alleged a grey Ford Territory Wagon, with false number plates, was driving erratically along Barry Road about 3.25pm.
The vehicle was observed a short time later, driving on the wrong side of the road on Corinella Crescent in Dallas and swerved to miss pedestrians before being followed by police.
The vehicle also collided with two cars on Blair Street where no one was injured.
The car allegedly collided with two vehicles on Congram Street and was severely damaged when it came to a stop about 3.30pm.
No one was injured.
A resident of Congram Street then ushered the offender into his house to hide from police.
On police arrival the boy had locked himself inside the house before being arrested by police.
A Dallas boy has been charged with 16 charges reckless conduct endangering serious injury, unregistered vehicle, eight counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident to exchange details, manner dangerous, possess drug of dependence and other traffic related offences.
He has been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
