Police Charge Teen After Man Assaulted - Ashfield

A teenaged boy has been charged and a man remains in hospital after an incident at a pre-polling centre in Ashfield yesterday.

Emergency services responded to reports of an assault about 1pm (Wednesday 23 April 2025), outside a pre-polling booth on Liverpool Road, Ashfield.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 79-year-old man for head injuries after he was allegedly punched by a 17-year-old boy.

The man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command arrested the boy at the scene and took him to Burwood Police Station where he has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The boy has been refused bail to appear in a children's court today (Thursday 24 April 2025).
