A teenage boy has been charged after a man was stabbed during a break and enter at a home in Tamworth earlier this week.
About 12.10am on Wednesday (17 November 2021), emergency services were called to a home at Bowdens Lane, Tamworth, following reports of a break and enter and stabbing.
Police were told a group of males entered the home, before stabbing the occupant and stealing personal items.
The group were last seen fleeing the home in a stolen VW Polo, which was later found partially burnt out at Coledale.
Upon arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District located a 51-year-old man with a stab wound to his abdomen and injuries to his hands.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Tamworth Base Hospital in a stable condition.
A 13-year-old boy was located hiding inside the Bowdens Lane home and arrested.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – armed, and breach of bail.
The teenage boy appeared at a children's court on Wednesday 17 November 2021 where he was granted conditional bail and will next appear on Tuesday 7 December 2021.
As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information, or dashcam footage from the area, to come forward.
