A teenager will face court today charged over an alleged pursuit on the Mid North Coast.
About 4.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 October 2024), police attempted to stop a vehicle on Bruxner Avenue, Wauchope, following reports of dangerous driving.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
Police lost sight of the vehicle near Range Street, Wauchope, and the pursuit was terminated.
Inquiries revealed that the car was allegedly stolen from a Wauchope address prior to the incident.
Following further inquiries, police located the vehicle on Warlters Street, Wauchope, a short time later.
The vehicle was seized and will undergo forensic examination.
During a search of the area, police located and arrested a 17-year-old boy.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, drive conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Wednesday 2 October 2024).
