A teenager has been charged with multiple offences following an alleged break and enter at a home near Tamworth yesterday.
About 1.50am on Tuesday 20 July 2021, officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a home on Duri Road, Hillvue, after a Nissan Navara utility was allegedly stolen from outside the home.
A short time later, police were called to a home on Calala Lane, Calala, following reports of an attempted break and enter.
Following inquiries, police located the Nissan Navara at the corner of Darrel Road and Myrene Ave, Calala, before they secured the vehicle and commenced a search of the area.
About 3am (Tuesday 20 July 2021), the officers were called to a home a short distance away on Warrah Drive, Calala, following another report of an attempted break and enter.
A short time later, officers observed a male running from the vicinity of Warrah Drive, towards the alleged stolen vehicle.
When they attempted to stop the male, he fled, but after a short foot pursuit he was arrested.
Officers conducted a search of the male and seized two knives, a small amount of drugs, a multitool, gloves and face mask.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station.
Following further investigations, a 17-year-old male was charged with agg B&E & commit serious indictable offence-people there, take & drive conveyance w/o consent of owner, enter prescribed premises of any person w/o lawful excuse, custody of knife in public place, possess housebreaking implements and possess prohibited drug.
The teen was refused bail to appear at a Children's Court on Tuesday 7 September 2021.
