Police Charge Teen With Outstanding Warrants In Orange

A teen will face court today charged with outstanding arrest warrants and failing to pay for taxi fare in the state's Central West.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.

About 5.10am yesterday (Tuesday 16 July 2024), a group of youths were picked up by a taxi on Orchard Grove Road, Orange.

The group were dropped at Hartas Lane, Orange, where the group allegedly stole two charging cables and failed to pay the fare.

Officers attached to Central West Police District received a report and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 3.30pm yesterday Tuesday (16 July 2024), a 14-year-old boy attended Orange Police Station where he was arrested.

Officers executed two outstanding arrest warrants for property-related offences.

The teen was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at a Children's court today (Wednesday 17 July 2024).

Inquiries under Operation Regional Mongoose continue.
