Police Charge Teen With Property Offences In Orange 24 July

A teen will face court today charged with an outstanding arrest warrant and property and traffic offences in the state's Central West.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.

Officers attached to Central West Police District received reports a red Isuzu D-Max ute entered a service station on Hanrahan Place, Orange, and filled up with fuel before leaving and failing to pay, about 3.45am on Monday 25 September 2023.

About 4.20am, police were patrolling the Mitchell Highway, Orange, when they sighted the Isuzu driving dangerously.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and when it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later.

A short time later, gates at Glenroi Oval were allegedly rammed and burnouts were conducted on the ovals.

About 8.40am, police located the Isuzu parked on Angela Place, Orange, and was seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, about 3.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 23 July 2024), police attended a home in Orange and arrested a 16-year-old boy where he was taken to Orange Police Station.

Police executed two outstanding arrest warrants for property, drug and traffic-related offences.

The teen was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, and driver never licensed.

He was refused bail to appear at a Children's court today (Wednesday 24 July 2024).
