Police have charged a man and two teenagers following a pursuit and search operation in Sydney's south west.
About 10.40am today (Saturday 28 December 2024), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling on the Hume Highway, Menangle Park, when they attempted to stop a white Genesis SUV after the driver was observed to be driving in a dangerous manner.
When it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
A short time later the vehicle was located by PolAir abandoned on Downes Crescent, Currans Hill.
Following further inquiries, police arrested three males – aged 18, 16 and 15 – on Spring Hill Circuit, Currans Hill.
Initial checks revealed the vehicle was reported stolen at an address in the ACT on the same day.
Police also allegedly seized small amount of what is believed to be an illicit substance – and a large knife near the vehicle.
The man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, receive etc property stolen outside NSW more than $15000 and possess means of disguising face with intent to commit indictable offence.
The two teenagers were both charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 29 December 2024).
The two boys were also refused bail to appear at a Children's Court tomorrow (Sunday 29 December 2024).
