Three men have been charged as part of ongoing investigations into drug supply in the Riverina region.
Detectives from Riverina Police District established Strike Force Morag in March 2022 – with the assistance of the Southern Region Enforcement Squad – to investigate drug supply, predominately methylamphetamine, in the Wagga Wagga area.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators arrested two men – aged 37 and 45 – during a vehicle stop at Yerong Creek, about 45km south west of Wagga Wagga, about 11pm on Thursday (5 May 2022).
Police searched the vehicle where they located and seized quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine. These items will undergo forensic examination.
Both men were taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.
The younger man was charged with supply commercial quantity prohibited drug, supply indictable quantity prohibited drug (x7), supply prohibited drug (x5), supply cannabis, and knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
He was refused bail and appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday 6 May 2022, where he was formally refused bail to appear in the same court on Wednesday 29 June 2022.
The older man was charged with supply indictable quantity prohibited drug (x5), and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday 6 May 2022, where he was formally granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on Wednesday 13 July 2022.
Following further inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home in Marrar about 9.50am yesterday (Monday 9 May 2022).
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with four counts of take party supply prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 11 May 2022).
Investigations are continuing.
