Two men and a woman have been charged following an investigation into a shooting in the state's north west last year.
About 10.15pm on Friday 28 August 2020, emergency services were called to a home on Spark Street, Bonshaw, about 100km north of Inverell, after reports a man had been shot in the arm.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended the scene and were told a 28-year-old male occupant, who was armed with a firearm, was confronted by a man in his front yard.
During an altercation, the occupant was shot in the arm, before the other man fled the scene in a vehicle.
The injured man was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
Detectives established a crime scene and several items were seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, the 28-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice on Friday 4 September 2020 for five offences including possess unregistered firearm-not prohibited firearm/pistol, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal), carry firearm manner likely injure person/property, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, and possess prohibited drug. He is next due to appear at Inverell Local Court on 24 April 2021.
On 10 September 2020, a 26-year-old woman was issued a Court Attendance Notice for concealing a serious indictable offence and appeared at Inverell Local Court last Thursday (14 January 2021).
As investigations continued into the matter, the 38-year-old man who was wanted on a NSW arrest warrant was arrested by Queensland Police Service in Ipswich, Queensland, for an unrelated matter last Friday (15 January 2021).
NSW Police travelled to Queensland and sought the man's extradition to NSW at Ipswich Local Court on Monday (18 January 2021). He was escorted to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with the warrant for cause grievous bodily harm with intent, in relation to the alleged incident at Bonshaw on Friday 28 August 2020.
He was refused bail and appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday (19 January 2021), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Inverell Local Court on Thursday 18 March 2021.
