Police Charge Two After Armed Robbery At Kiama

Police have charged two men following an alleged armed robbery in the Illawarra.

About 8.30pm on Saturday 29 June 2024, a 30-year-old man approached a vehicle on Terralong Street, Kiama. When he was got inside the vehicle, he was allegedly held at knife point. Police will allege cash was stolen, before he got out and the car drove off.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

Strike Force Awinya was established by detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District to investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery.

Following inquiries, just before 1pm yesterday (Thursday 11 July 2024), police attended a licensed venue in Memorial drive, Shellharbour.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, supply prohibited drug

About 6.45pm yesterday, a 24-year-old man was arrested at Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He was charged with take part supply prohibited drug

The pair was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 12 July 2024).
