Two men will appear in court today charged following the alleged fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney's west yesterday.
Shortly before 6am (Saturday 15 January 2022), emergency services were called to Popondetta Road, Blackett, following a concern for welfare report.
Upon arrival, officers found a 40-year-old man in the middle of Popondetta Road, suffering a laceration to his neck.
The man was treated at the scene by police before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was then taken to Westmead Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at a home on George Street, Kingswood, about 11.30am.
He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Later the same day, a 25-year-old man was arrested on Rooty Hill Road North, Oakhurst, about 6.45pm.
The Oakhurst man was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with murder.
Police will allege in court that the 40-year-old man and 25-year-old man were involved in a physical altercation, before the older man was stabbed.
It will be further alleged that the 24-year-old man assisted the 25-year-old man with fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Both men were refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 16 January 2022).
