Two people have been charged after an alleged escape from a Broken Hill correctional facility.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District began investigating the whereabouts of two men – aged 23 and 28 – after they allegedly escaped from a correctional facility about 9.40pm on Sunday (9 March 2025).
About 11.30am yesterday (Monday 10 March 2025), police arrested the younger man and a 31-year-old woman in his company, following a police pursuit that travelled through Coomealla, Buronga and Gol Gol, in the state's south.
They were taken to Dareton Police Station.
The 23-year-old man was charged with inmate escape/attempt to escape from lawful custody, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly.
He was refused bail to face Dubbo Local Court today (Tuesday 11 March 2025).
The 31-year-old woman was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Broken Hill Local Court on 18 March 2025.
Inquiries are continuing into the whereabouts of the 28-year-old man.
