Police Charge Two After Pursuit At Liverpool

Two men have been charged following an alleged pursuit in a stolen vehicle in the Liverpool area this morning.

About 4.30am (Saturday 12 October 2024), officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla on Hart Street, Warwick Farm.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued along Bigge Street, Liverpool, before the vehicle crashed into a shop front and flipped onto its side on Macquarie Street.

Two men – aged 18 and 22 – were trapped in the vehicle before climbing out of the passenger window.

They were taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The men were later released and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The younger man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The older man was charged with be carried in conveyance taken w/o consent of owner.

Both men were granted conditional bail and will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday 31 October 2024.
