Two people have been charged after three stolen vehicles with cloned number plates and two replica firearms were seized from a home in Sydney's south west yesterday.
In April 2022, officers attached to Region Enforcement Squad Wetherill Park established Strike Force Cowe to investigate the ongoing supply of methylamphetamine and heroin in Sydney's south west.
Following inquiries, a 46-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday 2 August 2022, at a home on Newbridge Road, Chipping Norton.
A search warrant was executed, where police seized $60,000 cash, prohibited drugs including methylamphetamine, heroin, GBL and cannabis, a firearm, ammunition, a Toyota van, and equipment used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
A second search warrant was executed on the seized Toyota van and police seized seven firearms, a Glock extender, 6kg of pseudoephedrine, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, two police shirts, clan lab equipment and chemicals believed to be used in the manufacture of illicit drugs.
The woman was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with 18 offences including supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity) and supply prohibited drug (indictable and commercial quantity).
She was refused bail and appeared before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday (3 August 2022), where she was formally refused bail, to reappear at the same court on Monday 10 October 2022.
Strike Force Cowe officers were conducting further inquiries along Newbridge Road, yesterday (Friday 5 August 2022) when they observed a black Porsche Cayenne parked in the driveway of a home, which had cloned number plates affixed to the vehicle.
Further checks revealed the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a home in Bondi Beach in June 2022.
A search warrant was executed at the home a short time later, where a replica assault rifle, a replica Glock, mobile phones, steroids, and two further vehicles were located in and around the house.
The vehicles – a BMW X3 and a Mazda CX5 – had allegedly been stolen from homes in Willoughby and Randwick respectively and also had cloned number plates affixed.
All items were seized for forensic examination.
A 39-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, and three counts of receive motor vehicle part-theft serious indictable offence
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 6 August 2022).
Investigations under Strike Force Cowe continue.
