Detectives have charged two men over their alleged involvement in money laundering and organised crime offences.
On Friday 28 October 2022, officers attached to South Coast Police District were notified of a fraud incident where a woman's life savings were allegedly stolen via an online scam.
As part of ongoing inquiries, detectives attached to Campsie Police Area Command, with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad, executed a search warrant at an address on Woodville Road, Villawood, on Thursday 27 April 2023.
During the search warrant, police seized phones, laptops, and a luxury vehicle.
Two men, both aged 22, were arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.
One of the men was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime => $100,000, knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime, and deal with property proceeds of crime
He was refused bail and will appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Friday 28 April 2023).
The other man was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Thursday 18 May 2023.
Police are urging members of the community to remain vigilant to protect themselves from scammers who make unsolicited calls and pose as computer service technicians.
