Police Charge Two Over Assault At Port Macquarie

Two teens have been charged over an alleged assault at Port Macquarie last week.

About 3am Friday 17 January 2025, emergency services were called to Warlters Street, Port Macquarie, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District attended and found a 43-year-old man with injuries to his face and leg.

Police were told the man was allegedly assaulted by two males, who left the scene prior to police arrival.

The 43-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 14-year-old boy the same day.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with assault with intent to rob while in company, cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

The teen was refused bail and appeared before a children's court on Saturday 18 January 2025, where he was further refused bail to appear before a children's court on Thursday 23 January 2025.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a second 14-year-old boy at a home in Taree about 7.45am yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025).

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with assault with intent to rob while in company, cause wounding/grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025), where he was further refused bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 3 March 2025.
