Police Charge Two Over Break And Enter - SF Almeria

Two people have been charged over break and enter offences and a pursuit in Sydney's inner west yesterday.

In October 2024, officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command established Strike Force Almeria to commence an investigation into number of break, enter and steal offences across the Ryde area and suburbs of Sydney's south.

Initial inquiries allege a man forced entry into properties and stole items in the suburbs of Epping, Carlton, Miranda, Eastwood, Denistone West, North Ryde and West Ryde areas since June 2024.

Shortly before 9am on Friday 4 October 2024, officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attempted to stop a white BMW SUV on Majors Bay Road, Concord.

When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, with the assistance of PolAir.

The pursuit was terminated after the vehicle stopped on Edgewood Crescent, Cabarita, where the two occupants allegedly left on foot.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 40-year-old man near the Parramatta River before he was taken to Gladesville Police Station.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested at an address in Meadowbank, about 1pm before she was taken to Gladesville Police Station.

Police also executed a search warrant at an address on Meadow Crescent, Meadowbank, about 4.40pm on the same day where they seized items including a firearm, and luxury goods – believed to be stolen.

The 40-year-old man was charged with eleven counts of break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60,000, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and licence expired more than 2 years ago.

The 21-year-old woman was charged with dispose property – theft equal to serious indictable offence more than $5000 and two counts of deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100000 and more than $5000.

The pair were refused bail to appear today at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 5 October 2024).
