A 39-year-old Goodwood woman and 34-year-old North Hobart woman were charged with numerous offences after a significant quantity of tools and equipment - estimated to be valued at more than $17,000 – was stolen from a business in Charles Street on Monday night.
The women were also charged in relation to a stolen handbag, which is alleged to have been taken from a patron at a Launceston business on Tuesday night.
Police allege the women used cards from inside the stolen handbag in a series of transactions across Launceston, before paying for accommodation at a Prospect hotel where they were subsequently arrested.
During the arrest, police located a large quantity of tools and equipment, confirmed as being stolen from the Charles Street business the day prior.
The 39-year-old woman was also charged in relation to a previous burglary at a Hobart hotel, and is alleged to have stolen cash, keys and other hotel property.
She was charged with burglary, stealing, aggravated burglary, attempted computer related fraud, possession of stolen property, and computer related fraud, and detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in September.
The 34-year-old woman was charged with unlawful possession of property, and was bailed. She will be proceeded against in relation to a charge of providing a false name.
