Two teens will face court today charged over an alleged pursuit near Newcastle early this morning.
About 2.50am (Wednesday 29 May 2024), police were patrolling Newcastle Link Road, Cameron Park, when they attempted to stop a Holden Captiva.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated continuing towards Wallsend and Shortland.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that the car was allegedly stolen from a Wallsend address between 6pm on Friday (24 May 2024) and 7.30am on Saturday (25 May 2024).
Police lost sight of the vehicle at Waratah West, and the pursuit was terminated.
A short time later, police located the Holden Captiva abandoned on Verulam Road, North Lambton.
Following a search of the area, with the assistance of the Dog Unit, two teenage boys were located in the backyard of a property on Acacia Avenue, North Lambton.
The teens, aged 15 and 17, were arrested before being taken to Waratah Police Station.
The 15-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The 17-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and commit section 154A offence and disseminate.
Both were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Wednesday 29 May 2024).
