Two teenage boys will appear before court today charged over an alleged pursuit earlier this morning.
About 3am (Monday 25 November 2024), police were called to a home on Boomerang Drive, Boomerang Beach, following reports of a break and enter.
Police have been told that two males allegedly entered the home before demanding keys to a BMW from the occupant before driving the vehicle from the scene.
Police attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District located the vehicle on The Lakes Way, Tiona, a short time later, and attempted to stop the vehicle.
When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, continuing towards Forster.
A short time later, the vehicle allegedly collided with a police vehicle before driving away, stopping a short time later after it lost control and crashed into a building on Wharf Street.
Following a search of the area, two males - aged 15 and 17 - were arrested and taken to Forster Police Station.
The younger boy was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and commit s 154A offence & disseminate.
The older boy was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc.
Both were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Monday 25 November 2024).
