Two people will face court today after stolen property was seized on the state's Central Coast last night.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting high visibility patrols of the Ourimbah area, when they stopped a vehicle on the M1 for random testing.
The driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine. The test will go for further forensic examination.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized up to 200 allegedly stolen items inside the vehicle's dashboard, including antique jewellery, gemstones, watches, and smelted precious metals.
The alleged total value is believed to be over $100,000.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, and his passenger, a 32-year-old woman, were arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station.
The man was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period - 2nd offence.
The woman was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime.
They are both due to face Wyong Local Court today (Tuesday 30 July 2024).
