Police charge two with aggravated robbery at Waterloo

Police have arrested and charged two men with aggravated robbery after a woman was allegedly robbed in Waterloo.

About 6am Tuesday (14 January 2020), a 38-year-old woman was walking on Short Street, Waterloo when a man riding a bicycle approached her and allegedly snatched her handbag, which contained a wallet, a mobile phone and an amount of cash.

Following a brief struggle, during which the woman sustained minor injuries, the man rode off along with another man.

Police attended and began investigations.

About 10am yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2020), and following inquiries, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended a residence on Cope Street, Waterloo, and arrested two men.

They were taken to Mascot Police Station. A 23-year-old man was charged with aggravated robbery, breach of bail and breach of parole.

A 25-year-old man was charged with aggravated robbery and breach of bail.

Both were refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (16 January 2020).
