A man and woman have been charged with commercial drug supply after more than 280g of methylamphetamine was seized in the Murrumbidgee region.
Investigations began in early 2021, with Strike Force Warrul established to target the supply of illicit drugs in Griffith.
On Sunday (6 June 2021), officers from the Murrumbidgee Proactive Crime Team and Detectives stopped a 31-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man as they were travelling from the Goulburn area, allegedly transporting a significant quantity of methylamphetamine.
About 4.45am yesterday, investigators stopped a black Mitsubishi Lancer in the township of Beelbangera and spoke with the 31-year-old female driver and her 30-year-old male passenger.
More than 280 grams of methylamphetamine was seized when police searched the vehicle, as well as three mobile phones and $1150 cash.
The drugs had an estimated potential street value of $140,000.
The items seized will undergo forensic examination.
They were taken to Griffith Police Station where they were charged with supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity.
The woman was also charged with possess prohibited drug.
Both were refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Monday 7 June 2021).
