Two people, including a woman travelling with two young children in the car, have been charged with high-range drink-driving in Sydney.
About 3.15pm yesterday (Thursday 1 April 2021), officers from Nepean Police Area Command conducting proactive patrols, stopped a Hyundai Getz on Palomino Road, Emu Plains.
Officers spoke to the driver – a 39-year-old woman – who was travelling with two young children.
She was subject to a random breath test and returned a positive result.
The woman was subsequently arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station, where she underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.347.
The woman was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range PCA and had her driver's licence suspended.
She was bailed to appear before Penrith Local Court on Friday 23 April 2021.
The children were returned into the care of family members. A child at risk notification has been made.
In the second incident, officers attached to Liverpool Highway Patrol Command detected a gold Mazda 3 sedan travelling at 183km/h in a sign posted 100km/h area, on the Hume Highway at Prestons about 1.10am today (Friday 2 April 2021).
Police stopped the vehicle on nearby Camden Valley Way and spoke to the driver – a 25-year-old man – who produced an international driver's licence.
He was subject to a random breath test and returned a positive result.
The man was subsequently arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.153.
The 25-year-old was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, exceed speed limit >45 km/h and drive with high range PCA.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Monday 26 April 2021.
His driving privileges were withdrawn until he attends court and his vehicle's registration was cancelled for three months.
