Police Charge Woman After Vehicle Stop At Newcastle

A woman will face court today charged following a vehicle stop at Newcastle yesterday afternoon.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025), officers attached to Newcastle City Police District were conducting patrols on Bull Street, Mayfield, when they sighted a Volkswagen Golf.

Officers stopped the vehicle on Gregson Avenue, Mayfield West, and spoke with the driver, a 41-year-old woman.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was undertaken with police allegedly locating and seizing $79,790 cash, 29g of methamphetamine, 18 LSD tabs, buprenorphine tablets and a strip, 13 tablets which will undergo further testing, scales, mobile phones, and other items of interest.

The driver was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where she was charged with four counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug (greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity), recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, and goods suspected stolen in/on premises.

She was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 21 January 2025).
