Police Charge Woman After Windsor Arson

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a woman following an alleged assault and arson at a service station in Windsor early this morning.

Police were called to reports of a woman allegedly lighting a fire inside a Punt Road service station about 12:30am.

It was also alleged the woman had assaulted the attendant.

On police arrival, officers observed a fire inside the store and challenged a woman who was allegedly armed with accelerant.

The woman was non complainant and force was used including baton strikes and the deployment of a taser.

The 46-year-old Windsor woman was arrested and charged with criminal damage by fire, theft, resist police and unlawful assault.

She has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 2 May
