A woman has been charged after allegedly ramming a car and robbing a pregnant woman at knifepoint earlier this week.
About 8.30pm on Tuesday 17 November 2020, a woman and man – aged 27 and 35 – were sitting in a sedan at Barnabale Way, Springdale Heights, when their vehicle was allegedly struck from behind by a blue hatchback.
A woman – armed with a knife – allegedly exited the hatchback and threatened the man and woman before stealing the car keys to the sedan and leaving the scene.
The 27-year-old woman, who is currently 25 weeks pregnant, and 35-year-old man were not physically harmed.
The incident was reported to officers from Murray River Police District who commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, a 41-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Thurgoona Street, Albury, about 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 18 November 2020).
In a subsequent search of the woman and her belongings, police seized cannabis and methylamphetamine (ice).
She was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, two counts of use offensive weapon to commit indictable offence, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.
The woman was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Thursday 19 November 2020).
