Police Charge Woman With Arson After Fire In Launceston

On Tuesday 26 November 2024, Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service were called to a house fire in Canning Street, Launceston.

A fire had been deliberately lit in one of the bedrooms of the residence. Attending police managed to contain the fire to a small area of the residence prior to the arrival of Tasmania Fire Service who attended and completely extinguished the fire.

The damage from the fire is estimated at $5000. No one was injured during this incident.

Later on 26 November 2024, Northern CIB officers charged a 42-year-old woman from Conara with arson.

She was bailed to appear in the Launceston Court of Petty Sessions at a later date.
