Police charge woman with Deprivation of Liberty

Cannington Detectives charged a woman yesterday (8 July) after they found a 63-year-old woman locked in a storage unit.

It will be alleged on Thursday 8 July 2021, the charged woman (49) drove the victim from Perth to a residence in South Perth where she locked her in a storage unit.

Medical staff who had been looking after the victim quickly contacted police with concerns for her welfare and a police investigation commenced.

As a result of inquiries conducted by police, officers from Kensington Police, Cannington Detectives and Regional Operations Group, executed a search warrant on a South Perth home where they located the victim a few hours after she was taken.

A 49-year-old woman from South Perth has been charged with Deprivation of Liberty and is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 3 August 2021.
