Police charge woman with high-range drink-driving after pursuit - Kingsford

Police have charged a woman with high-range drink-driving following a brief pursuit in Sydney's east overnight.

Just after 11.50pm (Friday 24 December 2021), officers attached to Botany Bay Highway Patrol City South Sector observed a silver Mercedes swerving between lanes on Gardeners Road at Kingsford.

The driver allegedly failed to stop as directed by police and continued through two red traffic lights onto Anzac Parade.

A brief pursuit ensued, before the driver – a 43-year-old woman – stopped at Meeks Street.

The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

She was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where she underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.195.

Her licence was suspended, and she was charged with drive with high range PCA, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.

The Eastlakes woman was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday 9 February 2022.
