Police Charge Woman With Multiple Offences At Walgett

A woman has faced court charged over alleged firearm and stealing offences in the state's west.

Between 12pm on Monday 3 February 2025 and 6:45am on Tuesday 4 February 2025, a storage container located in Fox Street, Walgett was allegedly broken into.

The owner of the storage container reported that a number of power tools had allegedly been stolen.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Central North Police District searched a room at a motel on Fox Street, Walgett, where they seized a number of items including power tools, a gel blaster, a NSW Rural Fire Service defibrillator, and housebreaking implements.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested at the motel and taken to Walgett Police Station where she was charged with:

  • Face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence
  • Possess housebreaking implements
  • Possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm
  • Receive property-theft-serious indictable offence <$5000 (two counts)
  • Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen, and
  • Breach of bail.

She was refused bail and appeared before Walgett Local Court yesterday, Wednesday 5 February 2025, where she was again refused bail to appear before the same court on Monday 10 March 2025
