Police Charge Youth Over Serious Assault At Wynyard

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with Criminal Code Assault after a 17-year-old boy was left with significant injuries to his face during an incident at Wynyard.

Police were called to a disturbance involving four teenagers in Inglis Street, Wynyard about 12.20am on Sunday 29 December.

During an altercation between the youths - two aged 17, and two aged 15 - the 17-year-old victim suffered head injuries and was later transported to the North West Regional Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 15-year-old boy presented to Burnie Police Station on Thursday 2 January and has since been charged over the assault.

He will appear in the youth justice division of the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.

All four youths involved were known to each other.
