A search and rescue operation has entered its fourth day, as police and State Emergency Service volunteers continue to search for missing 74-year-old Augustine Heights woman Kate Mandala.
Multiple police crews, including the Mounted Unit, seven ATVs and PolAir continue to search the Spring Mountain, Springfield Central, Springfield Lakes, Augustine Heights and Brookwater areas.
Police are appealing to residents in those areas, particularly in the Spring Mountain area, to check their yards, garages and sheds. If residents know that they're neighbours are away, they're also encouraged to check their neighbour's yards if appropriate.
Kate (pictured) went missing from Augustine Heights on Friday morning, December 30, at around 6.40am when she wandered away from a family home. She was spotted on CCTV (pictured) in Kenneth Drive, Augustine Heights, at around 6.50am, and last seen on foot in the vicinity of Broadford Drive and Aberdeen Circuit in Spring Mountain between 9am and 10am the same morning.
Kate has limited knowledge of the local area as she has only recently arrived in Queensland from South Africa. She speaks limited English and has a medical condition which may be cause disorientation and confusion.
Kate, has a dark complexion, slim build and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a long multicoloured wrap skirt and a black sun hat.
Kate is now believed to only be wearing blue/purple socks, after her black slides were located in the Spring Mountain area by search crews yesterday.
Police believe she may be travelling on foot or possibly using public transport to move around.
102 SES volunteers are also on the ground today, while Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are assisting with drone searches.
Police are also requesting that any residents in this area with CCTV to review vision from 8am December 30 and report any sightings immediately to police.
Residents are being urged not to fly drones in the area as it interferes with police resources.
