Police continue to search Reedy Marsh area for wanted man

Police are seeking public assistance to locate 47-year-old Robert Gerard who they wish to speak to in relation to a suspicious death at a Reedy Marsh residence last night.

Around 6pm police were called to a house at Larcombes Road where a 69-year-old man was found deceased. The man's death is being treated as murder and will be investigated by Launceston Criminal Investigation Branch.

Police are searching Reedy Marsh and the surrounding areas for Robert and significant numbers of general duties and specialist police including members of the special operations group will be in the area. Police drones and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter have also been deployed to assist with the search.

Information indicates that Robert may be armed and is wearing camouflage type clothing. He is considered dangerous.

Police urge anyone who sees Robert or a man acting suspiciously in the Reedy Marsh area to not approach and contact police immediately on Triple Zero (000).

Residents in Reedy Marsh and the surrounding areas are asked to ensure their properties are secure.

Two men and one woman remain in police custody and will be interviewed by detectives today. At this stage no charges have been laid.
