Tasmania Police and local licensees are teaming up for the festive season, with Hobart's 'builders' breakup' and 'cage night' celebrations taking place this week.
Acting Commander John Toohey said police are working closely with licensees to roll out various safety measures to curb anti-social behaviour and keep the public safe.
"This includes more patrols and better communication and sharing of information," he said.
"The festive season is a busy time for our licensed venues, especially with builders' break-up and cage night celebrations this week."
"We'll be stepping up patrols, using specialist resources like drug dogs and hand-held metal detector wands throughout the Hobart waterfront."
"As more people gather to celebrate, we encourage everyone to look out for one another to make this festive season enjoyable and safe for all."
"We urge community members to play their part by celebrating responsibly and reporting any suspicious or anti-social behaviour to the police."
Licensee Paul Jubb said the safety of patrons is a top priority.
"We want people to be enjoying themselves when they're out and about, and by working closely with police we can make sure our venues are safe and welcoming for everyone," he said.
Steve Old, CEO of the Tasmanian Hospitality Association said the collaboration had his full support.
"By working together, we can make things safer and more enjoyable for everyone."
"It's about having a collective approach, and a real commitment to looking out for each other."
