A search is underway to find a man who disappeared after jumping into the Nepean River south of Penrith.
Emergency services were called to Nortons Basin at Mulgoa, about 20km south of Penrith, about 11am (Saturday 16 November 2024), and were told a man – believed to be aged in his 60s – disappeared after jumping into the water from a cliff.
A search operation is now underway involving officers from Nepean Police Area Command, specialist members of State Emergency Services' (SES) swift-water rescue team, Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW Ambulance. A PolAir crew is also en route to assist.
Police have been told the man had been fishing before telling his partner he was going for a swim. She raised the alarm when he failed to resurface.
