Police Hunt Robbery, Dangerous Driving Suspect in Rockhampton

Police have charged a 30-year-old man after a stolen vehicle was driven dangerously through areas of Rockhampton yesterday, August 26.

It will be alleged the man flagged down a white Hino truck on Farnborough Road, Farnborough around 2pm, where he became a passenger and rode in the vehicle for a period of time before he threatened the driver, a 18-year-old man, with a weapon.

The driver then left the vehicle, before the 30-year-old man drove off.

It will then be alleged the truck was driven dangerously and at high speeds through Farnborough and Yeppoon, North Rockhampton, and Etna Creek, where it collided with several vehicles.

No major injuries have been reported as a result of these incidents.

Police located the man and the vehicle around 4:15pm near the Bruce Highway at Etna Creek, where he was taken into custody.

The 30-year-old Yeppoon man has been charged with armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruct police and wilful damage.

He is due to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court today, August 27.

Anyone with information that can assist police investigations, including dashcam or CCTV that depicts the vehicle's manner of driving at any time during August 26, is urged to come forward. Investigations are ongoing.
