Northern Territory Police have arrested a 31-year-old male in relation to an aggravated robbery that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday afternoon.
Around 3.20pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of an unlawful entry at a residence on Bloomfield Street in Gillen.
An altercation occurred between the sole occupant of the residence, a 22-year-old male, and the alleged male offender, during which the offender produced an edged weapon and attempted to assault the victim.
The offender fled the scene and members from Strike Force Viper were deployed to the area to commence investigations. The victim did not suffer any injuries.
The offender was located and arrested a short time later. He was charged with Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Robbery and was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today, 3 October.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leigh Yates said, "I commend the excellent work of our members to swiftly identify and arrest the offender from this incident.
"Incidents like this can be incredibly traumatic for victims and we want to assure the public we will work tirelessly to put these offenders in front of the courts."
