Police Hunt Tips in Katherine Assault Case

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to an aggravated assault that occurred this morning in Katherine.

Around 8:30am, police received reports of an altercation between two women aged 42 and 25, and another 43-year-old woman, believed to be known to them, outside of a shopping complex on Katherine Terrace.

During the altercation the 42-year-old allegedly attempted to assault the 43-year-old woman with broken glass, and in the process struck the 25-year-old in the arm.

The 25-year-old suffered a serious laceration to her forearm, and the offender also sustained a laceration to her finger.

Police and St John Ambulance attended, and both women were conveyed to Katherine Hospital for treatment.

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested and is expected to be charged.

Police continue to investigate the matter.
